If you’ve vowed to change up your look for 2022, getting an oral piercing is a fun place to start. In terms of healing time, oral piercings generally take less time to heal since the skin in your mouth regenerates faster than most other parts of your body. In case you need some inspiration, Piercing Models.com put together a list of the most exciting potential oral piercings that you can get.
Medusa or Monroe piercing
Upper lip piercings are some of the most unique and visible facial piercings you can get. Whether you’re looking to emulate a beauty mark with the Monroe piercing, or you’d like something with more of a centering effect like the Medusa, upper lip piercings are a lively way to spice up your look. The Monroe will definitely be less painful since it punctures thinner skin, but both are worth it depending on your preferences!
Labret piercing
Labret piercings are versatile and are centered right in the middle of the bottom lip. You’ll be able to choose from getting your piercing right at your lip line, or going for a different look by getting pierced lower on the face towards your gum area. The lip line variation can either be worn with a ring, circular barbell or stud, while the lower variation limits your jewelry options to a stud.
Snakebites piercing
Single lip piercings are fun too, but why not go for symmetry? One lip piercing on either side of your bottom lip makes a snake bites piercing. While lower variations of this piercing exist, the lip line variation is more popular for both its look and the variety of jewelry that can be worn with it.
Cheek piercing
Cheek piercings are meant to highlight cheek dimples (or lack thereof) on the face. Compared to the other piercings on our list, cheek piercings will probably be the most painful, simply because of the amount of tissue they puncture in the process. However, piercing is naturally painful by trade, so this shouldn’t necessarily be a deterrent. Cheek piercings are commonly worn with studs and make your smile extra bright!
Smiley piercing
Compared to cheek piercings, smiley piercings are probably the least painful on our list, and they’re also the most discrete oral piercing you can get. The smiley piercing punctures the tiny webbing of skin between your gum and lip, and it’s often worn with a ring or circular barbell that’s easily shown off when you smile or pull up your lip. The opposite of this piercing is the frowny piercing, which is instead pierced through the webbing on the bottom lip.

No matter what piercing you decide on next, we’ve got all the resources you need to keep it happy and healthy!
Hello! My name is Emily and I obsessed with piercings (and tattoos) since I was a little girl of 6 years old. I was fortunate enough to make my passion my work after meeting my amazing husband Jeffrey who owned his own tattoo shop. I just recently finished my internships at some of America’s most famous piercing shops and a dream to start something together was born. After falling in love with each other (and each other’s piercings and tattoos) we decided to expand his tattoo shop and I got to manage my own piercing shop in the same space! I’ve never been so happy being able to share my love for piercings through my shop and this blog I started back in 2013. We love to share models and inspiration, so feel free to email me your suggestions, pictures or if you just want to say hi!
